  • The Great Penny War is coming April 20-24! It’s every class for itself!  The Great Penny War is a competition between all classes at RMS.  Bring your pennies to fight for your class.  Each penny added to your class jar will be one point for your class.  You can defeat other classes by adding silver coins to their jars.  Each silver coin will deduct its value from that class.  To the victor goes the spoils!  The winning class will get a special donut breakfast just for them!

  • Riverton has a new club for 7th and 8th graders called the Riverton STEM Academy.  The club will focus on science, technology, and engineering projects.  If you would like to pick up an application, you may visit Mr. Herberts before or after school.

  • Attention 8th grade parents:  It’s time to start thinking about the 8th grade promotion slide show!! Please send 3-4 pictures (baby or recent) and group photos to szokebrad@gmail.com.  If you cannot email pictures, please send them in an envelope CLEARLY MARKED with your child’s name.  Mr. Szoke will scan pictures and return them to you.

  • The Riverton Sports Boosters Prime Rib Dinner is April 25thPrime Rib Dinner Flyer

  • RMS 8th Grade Science Fundraiser

During science in 8th grade at RMS, students have been learning about fresh water resources.  They’ve learned about where it comes from, how water gets treated so it’s safe to drink, and how we (society) can conserve water and limit pollution.  Did you know that in many areas throughout our world, children and families do not have access to safe and clean water?  As a result, the 8th grade class voted in favor of participating in a fundraiser to help!  This year, we will support an organization called Waves for Water, which provides clean water filters and resources to areas around the world who are in need!

Eighth graders are hoping to meet their fundraising goal of $700 toward their project named “Spinning into a New Beginning.”  All money donated will go to the area near Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where Hurricane Odile caused widespread damage last fall.

Please help us reach our goal!  You can donate directly by visiting our webpage located at http://www.wavesforwater.org/fundraiser/spinning-into-a-new-beginning and clicking on the blue “Donate” button.  Donations may be also dropped off at RMS in a clearly marked envelope.  Thank you for supporting us and helping us make a change in our world!

    DONORS CHOOSE

  • Miss Little’s 6th grade classroom project is for six Chromebook laptops for students to engage in learning and cooperatively work with other groups of students during multiple subjects. The link is www.donorschoose.org/misslittle

DONORS CHOOSE

•    5th grade has a Donor’s Choose project under Mrs. Knisley’s name to get an iPad for the students. This iPad could be used to progress monitor fluency, build skills in XtraMath, and use educational apps that would enhance learning every day! iHelp a Hawk!

  • Please continue to send in your Box Tops for Education. We are having a contest through the end of the school year. For every $500 we earn, the PTO will give a $50 gift card to a lucky winner! For every 20 Box Tops you turn in, your name will be entered in the drawing - and will remain in the drawings through the end of the year. We have already earned $690, so we will be drawing a winner next week from those who have already brought in Box Tops. Once we get to $1,000 we will draw another winner and so on! Remember to put your name and teachers name on the bag. Good Luck!
