There will be no after school activities buses for the rest of this school year.

High school girls basketball open gym has been cancelled tonight. 

 

Any 8th grader who is interested in running high school cross country, please pick up an information sheet from the office today.
 

Please check with the office for information sheet about Vacation Bible School to be held July 19-24.  

 

 

 “A 3 day soccer camp for all boys and girls interested and entering grades 3 thru 8 will take place at the Field of Dreams July 29th though the 31st from 9-11am. Cost is just $10 per child. Flyers are in the office or see Mr. Bertolino (cbertolino@rivertonschools.org) for questions.”

 

'We have reached our goal of $1,000 of Box Tops money so we will be giving out another $50 gift card on Monday. If you still have Box Tops to turn in, please do so by next Thursday. If we reach $1,500 we will be able to give out another gift card on the last day of school! Do not forget to put your name and teacher's name on the bag!'

 

Congratulations to the 8th grade for winning the Penny War, and thank you to all grade levels for contributing!  All money will go to Waves for Water to help provide clean water to an area in Mexico that was damaged by a hurricane last fall.

Interested in learning how to run a 5k? Join Girls on the Run’s newest program Heart and Sole. This is a character development program for girls in 6th through 8th grade. It combines life skills lessons with training for a 5k run. If you are interested, please sign up outside Miss Bevier’s room. Spots are limited, so first come/first served!

Any students interested in summer voice, piano, or instrument lessons see Mrs. Pinter for info.

 

7th and 8th grade students interested in volunteering for the summer lunch program should see Ms. Campbell.

 

Any 8th grade girl interested in participating in the volleyball open gym this summer needs to have a completed information sheet on file. Forms and open gym schedule available in the office.     

JFL football and cheerleading registration is May 17, June 14, and July 12 from noon until 3:00 pm at the Field of Dreams.  All 5th through 8th grade need to be registered by May 31 as this is the deadline for ordering jerseys. Pick up information sheet in the office.

Boys basketball and baseball summer camp and girls summer volleyball camp registration forms available in the office.

RIVERTON SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM 2015 WILL BE SERVING FREE HOT LUNCHES MONDAY-FRIDAY FROM JUNE 15-JULY 31 AT RIVERTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.  THIS IS OFFERED TO ANY CHILD 18 AND UNDER REGARDLESS OF INCOME.  PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED INFORMATION SHEET AND VOLUNTEER SHEET.

 

Rockets Soccer Club - Competitive Soccer Tryouts

Tryouts for the Fall 2015-Spring 2016 RSC Competitive Soccer Club will be held June 2nd & 3rd, with a makeup date on June 10th.  Tryouts will be from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Rochester Community Park Soccer Fields.  Players are only required to attend one tryout date. Tryouts are open to all U8-High School competitive soccer players from Central Illinois.  RSC is open to competitive soccer players from all communities and school districts.  RSC offers a fun & competitive atmosphere, licensed staff, specialized training and more for all soccer players to develop their skills and abilities.

Try-outs for the RHS Pom Squad/Dance Team will be held in August. Any 8th grade girl who is interested in trying out should sign up in the office for try-out updates from Coach Tester.

 

 

DONORS CHOOSE

•    5th grade has a Donor’s Choose project under Mrs. Knisley’s name to get an iPad for the students. This iPad could be used to progress monitor fluency, build skills in XtraMath, and use educational apps that would enhance learning every day! iHelp a Hawk!

Attention parents of incoming 6th graders:

Your child will need a physical and dental exam along with a Tdap shot and meningitis shot.

 

Attention incoming 9th grade parents:

Your child needs to have a school physical with a Tdap shot.

 

Please print the physical and dental forms from our website under health forms and take to your appointment with you.  Make sure to fill out the health section on the physical form and sign it.

We will be serving FREE hot lunches Monday-Friday from

 June 15th -July 31st at Riverton Elementary School.

This is offered to ANY child 18 and under regardless of income.  It’s a great opportunity to get a good meal and see friends over the summer.

Based on the feedback we received and limited transportation funds, we are going to start with the following bus stops:

Lincoln Place                                                          Lincoln Trail

Clearlake Village                                                 Bissell

Woodland Acres                                                   Hilltop

Lucky Horseshoe                                                 Riverton Lutheran Church (7th and Menard)

Depending upon participation, stops may change after the first week.  Permission slips need to be turned in by June 3rd  to determine whether stops need to be added.

Our buses can be used by volunteers (including Jr. High and High School), parents (if your child is under 5), and participants.  Students will be at school for approximately an hour for lunch and activities.  PARENTS MUST SIGN PERMISSION SLIP IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE (SEE BACK).

If you think your child would participate on a DAILY basis, but there is not a nearby stop...please check here________.  Make sure you fill out your permission slip and address on back.

We are also looking for Jr. and Sr. High volunteers to read, play games, and do other activities.  If your child would like to participate, please fill out the information below. Students will be able to eat and have documentation of service hours.

SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM PERMISSION SLIP

As you probably know, ALL summer meals this year will be served at Riverton Elementary School.  Buses will provide transportation to and from the school daily.  Please review the following rules that are put in place in order to keep our participants safe.

  1.  Students under 5 must have completed one year of Pre-K at Riverton in order to get on the bus without a parent/guardian present. (Parents can ride bus with them).

  2. Students will be dropped off at the stop they were picked up at (NO EXCEPTIONS).

  3. If a student shows disrespectful/unsafe behavior at the school or on the bus, s/he will not be allowed to participate in our program.

  4. ALL students must have a permission slip filled out in order to participate.  You will be able to download one from the RES website or get one from a bus driver at one of the stops.  Drivers WILL NOT be able to wait for you to fill it out, so you can pick it up one day, and your child can start the next as long as the form is completed in full.
